The internationally renowned clarinettist and teacher Nancy Braithwaite has performed in the USA, Europe and China. As a soloist she has performed with the Rochester Philharmonic, Savannah Symphony Orchestra and many others. Nancy studied with Stanley Hasty at the renowned Eastman Conservatory and graduated with the highest musical degree, the Performer’s Certificate. During her master’s studies at Northwestern University with Robert Marcellus (former clarinettist of the Cleveland Orchestra under George Szell) she worked as an assistant teacher for clarinet and chamber music. In the USA, she continued her studies with Larry Combs, former principal clarinettist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. In Europe, she studied chamber music with the renowned violinist Eli Goren, former leader of the Allegri Quartet and Melos Ensemble and concertmaster of the BBC Symphony, and continued her training with the internationally renowned Belgian soloist Walter Boeykens. Braithwaite is the founder and artistic director of the Kromme-Rijn Concert series in Bunnik, in which the Arto Ensemble performs as a core group with a variety of guest artists. She also founded a concert series with the Rietveld Ensemble in Utrecht in 2014, which has now been extended to other venues in Amsterdam and The Hague. In 2015, Nancy travelled through China to give master classes and concerts in four major Chinese cities. In March 2016, she travelled to China again, both as a jury member of a major clarinet competition in Beijing and to give master classes and concerts. In 2016, Nancy gave master classes as an Erasmus exchange professor at the Conservatory of Castellón de la Plana, Spain.
