Biography
Joaquín Sosa is a distinguished Cuban jazz musician recognized for his versatility and artistic strength on clarinet, tenor saxophone, flugelhorn, and flute. He has performed at major international jazz festivals, sharing the stage with renowned artists such as Wynton Marsalis, Paquito D’Rivera, Victor Goines, Roy Hargrove, Chucho Valdés, Emma Smith, Frédéric Yonnet, and others.
His discography, featuring original music projects, has been recognized by Europe Jazz Media and leading jazz publications. He is also a recipient of the prestigious Janusz Muniak Award, granted to musicians who stand out exceptionally within the Polish jazz scene, and a winner of the Bielska Zadymka Jazz Competition and the Jazz Juniors Competition.
He has collaborated on multiple occasions with GRAMMY-winning maestro Paquito D’Rivera, who described him as “one of the most talented and versatile colleagues in the contemporary clarinet world.”
