New Uebel artist: Cindy Lin

Welcome to the F. Arthur Uebel family!

Clarinettist Cindy Lin was born in 1981 in Taiwan, where she began her studies of piano and clarinet at ages 6 and 9. She soon moved to Australia and continued her studies at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. In 2007, Cindy graduated with First Prize and highest honors from C.N.S.M de Paris, as well as Soloist Diploma from l’HEMU de Lausanne, Switzerland in 2008. Cindy also received L.MUS.A from the Australian Associated Music Examination Board for both Piano and Clarinet. Known for her superb tone ( and musicianship (Bachtrack), Cindy is principal clarinettist of Orchestre de Chambre de Geneve since 2006. As an orchestral musician, she has played as guest principal to the BBC Symphony Orchestra in London, Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, Verbier Chamber Orchestra, Verbier Festival Orchestra, Bern Symphonic Orchestra, Orchester Biel Solothurn, Sinfonietta de Lausanne, etc. She has worked under the batons of such as James Levine, Zubin Mehta, Christopher Hogwood, Paarvo Jaarvi, Susanna Mälki. As Soloist, Cindy made appearances with orchestras such the as Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, Orchestre de Chambre de Geneve, Orchestra del Teatro Lirico di Spoleto, Orchestra del Teatro Regio di Torino, Sinfonietta de Lausanne and many others. Her repertoire expands from Mozart, Copland, Hartmann concertos to Artie Shaw Jazz Concerto. Her special performance of the Weber Clarinet Concerto No. 2 with the SBS Television and Radio Youth Orchestra in Beijing was made into a documentary and diffused by the SBS Channel in Australia. Other performance highlights include being a featured artist alongside Corrado Giuffredi at the Paleo Festival’s only classical concert in front of more than 10000 audiences, as well as opening the very first concert at the Sunday Concert Series of the prestigious Rosey Concert Hall. Many of Cindy’s performances have also been recorded live or in studio by broadcasting companies such as ABC Australia, 2MBS-FM, Espace 2, RTS and RSI. Cindy also gave concerts in International music festivals such as ClarinetFest, Festival d’Entrecasteaux, Cully Classique, Septembre Musicale, Rencontre musicale de Champery and Coppet, Festival Fiati di Novara, etc. She has also given masterclasses in Europe, China and Australia. Cindy was a recipient of numerous scholarships and awards: Leon Leblanc, Buffet Crampon and Vandoren, Fondation Juchum Achievement Grant (Switzerland), Academy of Villecroze Music Scholarship (France), Big Brother Scholarship for the Arts (Australia), Governor’s Scholarship (Australia), 1st prize in the International Competition of Chieri (Italy), 3rd prize in the Migros Chamber Music Competition (Switzerland), 1st prize in the Marco Fiorindo International Chamber Music Competition (Italy). Co-founder of the reed trio CLAB that commenced in 2002 and specialized in contemporary repertoire, the group has been managed by Pro Helvetia and toured in France, Italy, Tunisia, Poland, Italy and Switzerland. The renowned Swiss composer, Michel Hostettler has written a trio dedicated to the group and was premiered in Rome in the Swiss Embassy. Cindy is a Silverstein, Vandoren and Uebel artist.
